Dear Reader,
With this first editorial, I have the great privilege of introducing you to a brand new journal – EuroIntervention Case Reports. Following the PCR tradition, this journal was conceived with the same “by and for” philosophy, spotlighting the latest and most informative cases proposed by our interventional cardiology community.
We can all agree that – wherever we are in the arc of our careers – sharing how we approach complex situations or unexpected cases developments is essential to our continued growth as interventional cardiologists. The blossoming of case sharing on social media has been a valuable demonstration of this but has its own inherent limitations. Hence the launch of Case Reports – a proper, scientific, peer-reviewed platform specifically dedicated to the interventional cardiology community. This Open Access journal is built on three of the pillars of our field: coronary interventions, structural interventions and innovation. I have the honour of leading our formidable Editorial Board alongside three dedicated Deputy Editors − Valeria Paradies, Darren Mylotte, and Andrea Scotti − and we are seeking articles that contain highly valuable teaching points.
We offer a variety of formats so that you can highlight your clinical experiences in the most relatable manner possible. Whether you would like to share a singular image in a “Flashlight” column, a diagnostic or a therapeutic procedure presented step-by-step in our “My Treatment Strategy” series, EuroIntervention Case Reports is the home for your experience. Other categories include “First-in-Human Reports”, “Focused Reviews”, “Clinical Case Series” and, of course, the nominative “Case Reports”. Detailed explanations of each category can be found on the journal website.
EuroIntervention Case Reports is committed to the rising generation of specialists as a teaching resource as well as through the dedicated space we have developed within the Case Reports Journal where our younger colleagues can share their voices: the “Fellows’ Corner”. Each issue will feature a Fellow’s case of exceptional educational value and will be accompanied by an insightful Editorial from a seasoned expert. We hope that this exchange will open doors for the younger generation to share challenging cases and learn not only from each other but also from a master operator.
We are excited about the prospects of what the journal can offer to our whole community, and we look forward to your submissions and to EuroIntervention Case Reports becoming an indispensable learning resource – benefitting both you and our patients!
